2011 NSCA Coaches Conference Highlights
STACK attended the 2011 National Strength and Conditioning Association [NSCA] Coaches Conference in Dallas, Texas, at the beginning of the year. The event attracted the nation’s leading strength and conditioning specialists from professional, college and high school programs, as well as representatives of leading training facilities.
The NSCA is the principal organization for strength and conditioning professionals. With more than 30,000 members, the NSCA, per its website, “develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention and research findings.”
We attended several conference sessions on optimizing strength, speed and sports nutrition, led by experts like TRX director of programming Chris Frankel and University of Nebraska director of sports nutrition Josh Hingst. Also in attendance were hundreds of certified strength and conditioning specialists and several strength coaches from professional teams, including Matt Krause of the Cincinnati Reds and Perry Castellano of the Minnesota Twins.
