Lockout or no lockout, 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12 will build off the success of NBA 2K11, one of the best-selling games of the year. Here, producer Erick Boenisch hits on three enhancements that will keep the franchise moving forward.

1. Gameplay 2K12 lets you take your game to the next level with improved shot mechanics and a revamped post game. “An array of new shots and spins has been added,” says Boenisch, “along with 360-degree control in the post to give players total mastery of every shot.”
2. More Legends Boenisch says, “Built off the success of The Jordan Challenge from NBA 2K11, NBA’s Greatest mode pays tribute to 15 of the most influential and game-defining players the league has ever seen.” Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry West, Karl Malone, Oscar Robertson, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Bill Russell and Hakeem Olajuwon are all in the game. Hit a dream shake or run the pick and roll to perfection. It’s up to you.
3. Rivalries Mode Sneaking in even more legends, 2K12 allows gamers to go back in time and play as some of the best NBA teams, ever. Check out the black and white effects with some of basketball’s earliest superstars. Boenisch wants you to “relive historic Celtics-Lakers battles from over the years, and try to topple dynasties like Dominique Wilkins’ Atlanta Hawks, Larry Johnson’s Charlotte Hornets and Shaquille O’Neal’s Orlando Magic.”
