New Trailer Released for “A Good Day to Die Hard”
A Good Day to Die Hard hits theaters Feb. 14. The fifth film in the Die Hard series will once again star Bruce Willis reprising his role as John McClane. Check out the third and longest trailer, above.
The two-minute clip does more than just set up the premise of the movie. It ignites excitement in viewers about the action that is guaranteed in the forthcoming film—even though some seem to think it almost gives away too much of the Skip Woods-scripted plot.
McClane is drawn to Russia after learning that his son, John Jr., was arrested and falsely accused of mysterious conspiracy charges. The film’s villain is a connected and well-funded Russian terrorist whose link to weapons-grade uranium and nuclear weapons concerns McClane and his men.
Jai Courtney plays the role of John Jr., who, unbeknownst to his father, is an undercover CIA operative. The Australian actor, known for his role in Starz’s Spartacus: Blood and Sand, beat out several high profile names, including Liam Hemsworth and Aaron Paul, to land the role. Mary Elizabeth Winstead will reprise her role as McClane’s daughter Lucy—but it’s unclear how much of a part she will play in the movie. Cole Hauser, who worked with Willis in Tears of the Sun and Hart’s War, will also be featured in the film, along with Yuliya Snigir, who portrays a Russian criminal named Irina.
