Earlier this month, New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire unveiled a limited edition women’s fashion line in collaboration with fashion designer Rachel Roy. No stranger to fashion, Stoudemire regularly exhibits his trendy sense of style (see “Get Layered Up Like Amar’e Stoudemire” in the Fall 2011 issue of STACK magazine, coming soon.)

Roy, who joins forces with a new artist every year, teamed up with Stoudemire because, she says, “He works hours above and beyond what some of his co-workers do. And it’s the same way in fashion. It becomes a lifestyle.”

Stoudemire’s work ethic shows in the clothes. The collection consists of mostly comfortable and sporty pieces, which are high-end, yet unpretentious. The main logo—a heart and a basketball intertwined—conveys the self-explanatory message behind the outfits.
The collaboration reminds of us how the culture of sports and fashion complement each other. Roy says, “Madison Square Garden has an energy that fashion has … a very palpable feeling, [like] when you get that garment that looks so amazing on you … It’s energizing.”
