Watch the New Trailer for ‘American Hustle’
The latest trailer for American Hustle was released earlier this week.
In the new clip, Christian Bale’s character, Irving Rosenfeld, attributes several questionable quotes to Jesus, while Sydney Prosser (played by Amy Adams) reveals what draws her to the out-of-shape con man, who is forced to cooperate with the FBI.
The trailer also has 70s swag dripping from the scenes; a smoking, swearing, cleavage-revealing Jennifer Lawrence; and just enough ambiguity to keep viewers guessing about the plot. But in case you don’t like secrets, the drama unfolds around Irving and Sydney attempting to nab criminals in the New Jersey underworld, along with a few politicians at the behest of the FBI agent Richie DiMaso (Bradley Cooper). Jeremy Renner’s character, Carmine Polito, falls somewhere in the middle as a political operator. It’s unclear how Irving’s wife Rosalyn (Lawrence) fits in, but by the end of the trailer, we knew we would enjoy every scene-stealing moment.
The movie is already generating buzz as an Oscar contender. But director David O. Russell (The Fighter) said he tried hard not to focus on winning awards while making the film. “There’s really nothing you can do about it,” Russell told MTV. “I think you just have to do your best to humbly make the best movie you can make, and let the movie speak for itself.”
American Hustle will be released Dec. 25.
