A$AP Ferg’s ‘Trap Lord’ Coming in August
A$AP Ferg will release his debut album, Trap Lord, on Aug. 20.
The LP features collaborations with A$AP Rocky, D-Real, Aston Matthews, southern rappers Waka Flame and Trinidad James, 90s staples Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Onyx, and ScHoolboy Q.
The project’s title initially aroused the ire of Gucci Mane, but A$AP Ferg continues to use the term. Explaining what Trap Lord means to him, the New York native told XXL, “A Trap Lord is basically the struggle to do better. It’s almost like the theme of Always Strive And Prosper [A$AP]. Trap don’t necessarily mean you selling drugs. You could be selling clothes, watches, fake watches, gold teeth, hats—anything. You just trapping. And you a lord of it.”
“Work,” a cut from A$AP Mob’s Lords Never Worry, became an instant hit, and its official remix is featured on the record, in addition to Ferg’s Rocky-assisted track “Shabba,” which serves a tribute of sorts to dancehall veteran Shabba Ranks. Check out the complete track list below.
Fans who opt to pre-order Trap Lord will be treated to a free download of the former fashion designer’s latest promotional single, “Hood Pope.”
In related news, Ferg recently revealed that an official A$AP Mob album is on the way, along with a few efforts from other members of the posse. “We’re going to drop [the A$AP Mob album] with my tape as a pre-order,” Ferg told XXL. “The album’s supposed to drop after Trap Lord drops, and then you should expect more visuals and singles from other members.”
