Will ‘Avengers 2’ Introduce the Inhumans?
The latest Avengers 2 rumor suggests that we’ll be seeing Inhumans soon.
According to Unleash the Fanboy, both Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver will be introduced in Avengers 2 as Inhumans. Although the two have always been the spawn of Magento in the comics, Fox Studios holds the rights to all things mutant, so Marvel had to look elsewhere for an origin story.
By making Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver Inhumans, that is, alien beings with super powers, Marvel gets the justification it needs to give them special abilities and a plot device they can use in future movies. In the comic books, the aliens that created the Inhumans were none other than the Kree, who will be featured in the forthcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie. That movie’s main antagonist, Ronan the Accuser, is a member of the Kree race. Also, Crystal, a member of the Inhuman Royal Family, is married to Ronan in the comic books, and her ex-husband is Quicksilver.
“I don’t know if they’re the goofy Moon Base guys or a trendier take on the characters,” said an unidentified source on the movie website. “And as far as their own movie, I know about as much as everyone else about the Inhuman movie. I know they [Marvel] want it, but I don’t know how far along it is.”
Guardians of the Galaxy will hit theaters Aug. 1, 2014. Avengers: Age of Ultron will premiere May 1, 2015.
