Bartolo Colon’s Workouts in the Dominican Republic Are Straight Out of an 80s Infomercial
Bartolo Colon isn’t planning to retire any time soon.
The 43-year-old, 283-pound Atlanta Braves pitcher is currently in his native Dominican Republic, enjoying the warm weather and training hard. At least, I think this qualifies as training. I’m not quite sure.

I can’t say I’m familiar with this move, but if I had to give it a name, I’d probably go with Band-Resisted Chest-Press with Shuffle. Does it look like something ripped straight out of an 80s infomercial? Yes, yes it does. It also kinda looks like he’s wearing leg-warmers, which only strengthens the informercial vibe.
But Colon gets a good sweat going, and he’s played in the MLB for 18 years, so who am I to question him? He’s also wearing a shirt that says “The Great Bartbino,” so he can basically do whatever he wants.
Atlanta ranked 24th in the MLB in ERA last season, and they’re counting on Colon to bolster their rotation. Last winter, Bartolo trained in the Dominican Republic before posting a 3.43 ERA and earning a trip to the All-Star Game.
