STACK Battle of the Brands Week Eight Recap
Week Eight in the STACK Battle of the Brands fantasy football league featured one slugfest and one, well, sluggish fest. Here’s your recap of all the league action.
Team Reebok Outlasts Team adidas, 85-69
We’ve all been in games that were determined not by who wanted to win but by who didn’t want to lose. The matchup between Team adidas (3-4) and Team Reebok (4-3) certainly had that flavor. In the end, Reebok held on for a 16-point victory with only three of its players recording double-digit point totals. Robert Griffin III was held in check to the tune of 14 points, a season-low for the rookie QB.
Team Under Armour Tops Team Nike in Back-and-Forth Tilt, 147-134
The shootout of the season ended with Team Under Armour putting up the highest point total in the Battle of the Brands to date. Tom Brady led all league scorers with 36 points while Matt Ryan (30 points) and Jason Witten (35 points) combined for nearly half of Team Nike’s 134 points. Ultimately, the contest was won (and lost) was by the wide receiving units: Julio Jones and Steve Smith combined for 65 points—the best week for UA wideouts—while Calvin Johnson and Victor Cruz totaled 12 points, a season-low for Nike receivers.
Three Stars of the Week
3. Jason Witten, Team Nike
The 10-year veteran tight end recorded a career-high 18 receptions for 167 yards, but failed to find the end zone
2. Peyton Manning, Team Reebok
Manning paced Team Reebok with a team-high 30.5 points
1. Tom Brady, Team Under Armour
Brady threw for 300-plus yards and four touchdowns in London.
Week Nine Match-Ups
- Team adidas (3-5) vs. Team Under Armour (4-4)
