Birdman Denies Involvement in Lil Wayne Bus Shooting
Jeffrey Winfrey, the man accused of shooting up Lil Wayne’s tour bus during a stop in Atlanta, claims rapper Birdman was behind the attack. But the Cash Money records co-founder says he had nothing to do with the incident.
In new legal docs, Winfrey asserts that the situation unfolded following Birdman’s “financial dispute with [Wayne],” claiming the rapper “should be held liable as a party to the crime.”
Birdman denied any involvement during a recent interview with Angie Martinez. “Wayne is forever my son. I think that what’s going on is just some business,” Bird said. “[Lil Wayne] is my son and I love him to death. What’s going on now I don’t really know how it’s going to turn out.”
Addressing speculation that he was involved in Winfrey’s decision to shoot up Weezy’s vehicle, Birdman added, “It’s about the craziest s*** I’ve ever heard in my life. You crazy if you believe that. You know how I am about Wayne. I love him, he’s my son. Anybody who gets in this game knows it can get gangsta sometime, it can come to you or come around you.”
Initial reports indicated the shooting resulted from Wayne’s growing beef with Young Thug and his pending lawsuit against Cash Money—bolstered by the revelation that Winfrey was Thug’s tour manager at the time. Neither Wayne nor Thug have directly addressed the incident thus far.
