Bradley Cooper to Play Rocket Raccoon in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’?
Bradley Cooper is rumored to be considering becoming the voice of Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy. According to Deadline, the Hangover actor is currently in “deep negotiations” with the studio to bring the fictional superhero to life. The role will mark Cooper’s first foray into the animated voiceover world, and confirmation could come as early as this week.
The movie, which is slated to reach theaters Aug. 1, 2014, has already entered production. James Gunn is directing, and actors Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Glenn Close, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, Gregg Henry and Dave Bautista are already on board. Besides Cooper, Fast & Furious action star Vin Diesel is in talks to join the cast as the voice of Groot, the extraterrestrial. Footage from the filming in England has revealed Walking Dead‘s Michael Rooker portraying GOTG original member Yondu.
During an interview with Collider, Hounsou commented, “Guardians of the Galaxy is a completely different world. It has no place in this world. Even for us, coming to set and looking at it, you go, ‘Wow!’ Every other day, you feel like you’re in a different part of the galaxy. You don’t feel like you’re on planet Earth.”
GOTG is Marvel’s riskiest project to date. It’s unclear if audiences will embrace the outer space adventure the same way they have Avengers, or other franchises like Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. But the studio is building up a solid cast. Are you excited about the film?
