With his enormous success in American Sniper, no one in Hollywood is hotter than Bradley Cooper right now; and fans are wondering what the actor/filmmaker has planned next. Cooper has developed a reputation for making distinctly imaginative and provocative films, so the news that he is in talks to produce and possibly star in the upcoming big screen thriller Orphan X should come as no surprise.
Based on a still-unpublished novel by Gregg Hurwitz, Orphan X is the story of Evan Smoak, a.k.a. “Nowhere Man,” a guy who helps others, sometimes using violent means. He takes a job that leads him into a world of human slavery overseen by an LAPD detective.
The book is due to be published by MacMillan in February 2016. The feature film adaptation is also being written by Hurwitz, a bestselling author known for thrillers like Don’t Look Back and The Survivor. Hurwitz has also written for Marvel and DC comics featuring popular characters such as Wolverine, Batman and The Punisher.
Warner Bros. is currently negotiating for the rights to the material. If the deal goes through, Cooper will produce alongside Hangover director Todd Phillips via their new, still-unnamed production banner, based at Warner Bros.
Cooper has at least three more films in the works, including the drama Joy, which will reteam him with frequent co-star Jennifer Lawrence.
