If football is America’s game and California is America’s most populous state (nearly 12 percent of the total U.S. population), could that mean that California is the best football state in the country?
The Golden State has produced 14 Heisman Trophy winners, more than any other state. Since the year 2000, no state has won more high school national championships than California.
California powerhouse De La Salle High School has won five of the state’s six national championships since 2000, which equals the total number of national titles won by schools in the state of Florida during that timeframe.
