Chad Johnson is Now Coaching the Team He Once Swore He’d Never Play For
Coach Chad Johnson.
Sounds weird, doesn’t it?
Well, come the start of training camp, it will be a reality for players on the Cleveland Browns—sort of. Johnson was able to land a gig as a guest instructor thanks to his relationship with Browns head coach Hue Jackson. Johnson has been pushing for such a role for several months:
@Browns Can you ask Hue if I can come in & work with the receivers, thanks.

What a blessing Hue Jackson is, see y’all in Cleveland on the 28th, no cleats this time just knowledge

For Browns fans, it will be a bit odd to have Johnson on their side. The long-time Bengal piled up 10,507 receiving yards and 65 touchdowns during his 10 seasons in Cincinnati, and many of those yards and TDs came against the Browns.

For his part, Johnson seemed to want nothing to do with the Browns during his playing days. In the video player above, you’ll see a clip from a 2011 STACK interview in which Johnson shared his thoughts on potentially becoming a Brown. To sum it up—”**** no.”
But Johnson seems to be having fun with the fact that he’s now working for his old divisional rival:

Jokes aside, it seems like Johnson is truly interested in helping the Browns get better. Cleveland’s receiving corps is filled with young players who could benefit from Johnson’s wisdom and route-running expertise.
Just don’t let him dole out any nutritional advice.
