Cut out the worst, most inflammatory foods first: sweets, bad oils and foods that contain them, such as snack chips and deep-fried restaurant food. This will optimize your digestive health.
Add new foods one at a time, not in bulk.
When you’re hungry, try new, healthier foods. Shanahan says this is the best time to experiment.
Eat plain yogurt to jumpstart your digestion. Make sure it’s organic, whole milk yogurt, preferably from pasture-raised cows.
Snack on naturally fermented pickles, sauerkraut, kombucha and kimchee. Pickles are probably the easiest to find at the grocery store. Like yogurt, these fermented foods are good for digestion.
