Shia Labeouf’s Edgy ‘Charlie Countryman’ Arrives Nov. 15
In the action romance Charlie Countryman, Shia LaBeouf stars in the title role as a man determined to protect the woman he loves from a savage crime boss.
Charlie falls for a beautiful musician named Gabi (Evan Rachel Wood). The only obstacle is Gabi’s gangster boyfriend. Charlie bravely takes on the criminal underworld to rescue Gabi from the clutches of the malicious villain.
The cast includes Melissa Leo (The Fighter) along with Harry Potter cast member Rupert Grint and the very versatile Vincent D’Onofrio. Matt Drake, best known for last year’s Project X, wrote the screenplay.
Drug use is a recurring theme in the film. LaBeouf admitted that in an effort to be as realistic as possible, he actually took LSD for a scene in which Charlie trips on acid. The actor said the scene was a little too authentic for director Fredrik Bond.
Charlie Countryman opens in limited release Nov. 15.
