Check Out Rajon Rondo’s Resisted Defensive Shuffle Workout
The Chicago Bulls have completely revamped their roster as they head into the 2016-2017 NBA season. They traded Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah to the New York Knicks and added two high profile players in Dwyane Wade and Rajon Rondo. Rondo, for one, has wasted no time getting right to work.

Rondo has been hitting the gym with trainer Travelle Gaines, owner of Athletic Gaines in Las Vegas, working specifically on his lateral movement on defense. Looping a resistance band around Rondo’s waist and instructing him to get into his defensive stance, Gaines holds the other end of the band, adding resistance as Rondo shuffles quickly to his right before slowly returning to his starting position. The exercise not only trains Rondo’s muscle memory for playing defense, it also strengthens his lower body and increases his lateral quickness so he can stay in front of his defender.

With Rondo now running the show at the point guard position in Chicago, he’ll be guarding the likes of Kyrie Irving, Jeff Teague and Reggie Jackson, to mention just a few guys he’ll face in his new division. It’s safe to assume that Rondo will be working on defensive drills for much of the off-season.
