Christian Bale’s ‘Out of the Furnace’ Arrives This November
The revenge thriller Out of the Furnace, premiering Nov. 27 in limited release and Dec. 6 everywhere, centers on two brothers from the Rust Belt who dream of digging their way out of their bleak circumstances. Christian Bale stars as Russell, a steel mill worker who takes care of his terminally ill father at night, and Casey Affleck plays his younger brother Rodney, a returning Iraq war vet. But instead of improving his lot in life, Russell lands in prison through a cruel twist of fate. While Russell is away, Rodney becomes part of a violent, ruthless crime ring and gets into deep trouble.
When Russell is released from prison, he faces the choice of whether to risk his freedom to seek justice for his brother, who has gone missing. The recently released trailer promises plenty of gritty action as Russell takes on villains in brawl scenes that look extremely compelling.
Out of the Furnace features an impressive supporting cast, including Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker and Willem Dafoe. The film is directed by Scott Cooper, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Brad Ingelsby. The highly acclaimed Cooper is best known for directing Jeff Bridges’ Oscar-winning performance in Crazy Heart.
Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder is writing and recording a new song for the film.[youtube video=”ClzRVlMhU2E” /]
