On Tuesday, the Carolina Panthers Twitter account shared a photo of All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey that lit the internet ablaze.

See if you can figure out why:

Yeah, he looks absolutely ginormous. The first thing that comes to my mind is the episode of Spongebob Squarepants where the titular character bought a pair of Anchor Arms.

So what exactly is going on here? Why, after an All-Pro season where he ranked third in the NFL in yards from scrimmage, has McCaffrey decided to turn himself into the Incredible Hulk? Well, he really hasn't. Other recent photos of McCaffrey show him looking plenty jacked, but not cartoonishly huge:

Don't get us wrong, the guy is freakishly muscular, but that one photo is a little misleading in terms of his actual bulk. Contrary to what said photo may lead you to believe, McCaffrey's been training like a track athlete—not a bodybuilder—this offseason. It's entailed fewer sub-maximal reps and less total volume in favor of longer rest periods and consistently explosive workouts.

"I look at a running back as a sprinter. And running is actually in the title of my job, my occupation. My job is to run, and it's to do it fast," McCaffrey recently told STACK. "Everything I do is really pertinent to track. All of my speed work is with a track coach. All of my lifting is with a track coach. Those are the fastest people in the world. And at my position, being fast does not hurt. It's a very big track-based program."

The result? "I feel the best I've felt in my whole life in terms of being in good physical condition, speed, strength, all that," McCaffrey says. "Why I train (this) way is because I've tried everything. I feel like when I do (this), that's when I feel the best. That's when I can feel growth, I can feel myself getting faster, I can feel myself getting stronger."
