With summer just around the corner, you’re probably gearing up for training camps and combines along with other warm weather activities. If you’re looking for ways to stay performance-ready this summer, try an old childhood favorite and take your trusty bicycle out for a spin. You’ll not only be boosting your cardiovascular health but helping the environment, too.
Want an extra incentive? You could have a chance to win $1,000, just by going out for a daily ride and encouraging your friends to do the same. CLIF Bars and GOOD Maker have teamed up to present the Two-Pedal Power Challenge, part of CLIF Bar’s annual 2 Mile Challenge promoting physical well-being and social good.
The two companies are asking people to submit their best ideas to promote bike riding in their communities—now until June 11. All ideas will be published on GOOD Maker’s and CLIF’s websites, where visitors can vote for their favorites. The creator of the most popular idea will win $1,000 to implement his or her ideas.
“CLIF Bar is a brand literally born on a bicycle,” said Ryan Mayo, CLIF Bar environmental activism manager. “We think that life is better on your bike, and we’re proud to partner with GOOD in the 2012 Bike Week Maker Challenge to encourage new ideas to get more people out of their cars and on their bikes.”
So, get your pedals and your brain spinning, and come up with some innovative ways to get your teammates and friends excited about this classic mode of transportation. You could win a cool grand.
