Thriller ‘Colonia’ Will Star Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl
Emma Watson and Daniel Bruhl (Inglourious Basterds) will star in the big screen feature Colonia, a political thriller set in South America.
The movie is filming in several locations, including Germany and South America, and should wrap up sometime around the end of the year. Based on true events, the story takes place during the 1973 Chilean military coup and centers on Lena (Watson) and Daniel (Bruhl), a young German couple who find themselves caught up in the violence surrounding the overthrow of democratically elected president Salvador Allende.
The movie reteams Bruhl with Oscar Award-winning German director Florian Gallenberger. They last worked together on another historical drama, 2009’s City of War: The Story of John Rabe.
Gallenberger also co-wrote the screenplay for this picture with collaborator Torsten Wenzel.
Emma Watson has gotten increasingly busy since Harry Potter, with such hits as This is the End and several upcoming projects, like the crime drama Regression, co-starring Ethan Hawke, set for release in August 2015.
Colonia is expected to premiere in late 2015.
