Creighton men’s soccer defeated Tulsa in the unlikeliest of fashions.
During the 106th minute of golden goal overtime with the score knotted at 3-3, a Tulsa defender played a pass back to his own keeper who then illegally touched the ball with his hands. The procedure in such an instance is to award the other team an indirect penalty kick, meaning a shot cannot be taken directly off the dead ball.
It also meant Tulsa could construct a wall despite the fact the indirect free kick was spotted just a hair outside their own six-yard box. The Golden Hurricanes then lined up their entire team on their own goal line:
Creighton’s Yudai Tashiro managed to rifle the ball past this mass of humanity and into the net after an assist from Kuba Polat to give the Bluejays the wild victory:
Maybe Tulsa should recruit some taller players.
