Get More Stability and a Fresh Look for CrossFit With the Reebok Nano 3.0 Mid
If you’ve done CrossFit for more than a few months, you are well aware that Reebok designs and provides most of the sport’s gear. The Nano shoe, the flagship for CrossFit and the CrossFit Games, has gone through many iterations over the years. It’s been one of my favorite, go-to pieces of equipment, and I recently picked up a pair of the Nano 3.0 Mids to give you my impressions of the shoe.
I tried the low-top Nano 3.0, and still use them for most of my “all-around” workouts. However, in some circumstances, I prefer mid-top shoes for the extra ankle support—and honestly, I think they look better. And, if you say you’re not trying to look good at your box, you’re probably lying to yourself.
The 3.0 Mids have the same reinforced toe box as the 3.0 Low for instances when you drag your feet while doing Lunges or Wall Walks. I’ve had other shoes rip, so this is a great design attribute. The shoe has a breathable mesh so your feet won’t get too sweaty during workouts, even in the summer, and you also won’t get much friction on the inside.
Even though the shoe is breathable, it’s encased in a RopePro protection wrap, which guards against shearing if and when you find yourself climbing ropes or doing similar exercises. The soles are grippy, and the 4-mm heel-to-toe drop is great for all the different lifting and running you do during a CrossFit WOD.
I personally like the mid-top because I feel it offers more protection if I decide to go for a run in anything less than an ideal environment. My ankles have never felt very strong, so even a perceived improvement in stability is welcome.

Finally, they look great. I wear them “out” sometimes, and I’ve had friends ask, “Where’d you get those?” When I reply, “they’re just for CrossFit,” my friends seem unfazed and still want to know where they can pick up the shoe.
If you’re looking for a pair of shoes for CrossFit or a CrossFit-like exercise and want more stability, I recommend the Nano 3.0 Mids. You can pick them up a pair at http://www.reebok.com/us/crossfit.
