adidas Releases the D Rose 3 "Michigan Avenue" Edition
Even though Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose has been out of commission since April, there has been no shortage of new colorways for his signature shoe. This week, adidas releases the “Michigan Avenue” colorway for the D Rose 3. Inspired by the lights and characters that populate Chicago’s iconic Michigan Avenue during the holiday season, the shoe sports a white synthetic leather upper and midsole featuring speckled dots to represent the bright lights of the popular shopping street.
The toe is bright blue nubuck; the stripes and lace eyelets are bright yellow; and the tongue, outsole and laces are “infrared.” All the colors represent characters in the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival parade, kicking off Saturday, Nov. 17. The inside of the tongue is decorated with stars and a half-moon, mirroring D Rose’s “Poohdini” tattoo. The pattern is encircled by the satellite coordinates of Michigan Avenue and the number 1,000,000 (the number of lights displayed each year during the Magnificent Mile Lights Festival).
We still have a couple months before D Rose makes his return, but we won’t have to wait long to buy his new shoe. The D Rose 3 “Michigan Avenue” drops Nov. 15 for $160, and is available at adidas Basketball.
