‘DayZ’ Could Be Headed to Xbox One
Though DayZ hasn’t been confirmed for any specific platforms other than the PlayStation 4, during a recent interview with Eurogamer, creator Dean Hall revealed that the game “is definitely going to be a multi-platform title.” At this point, it’s almost certain that the Xbox One will be among the to-be-named platforms.
“[Multiplatform is] the firm vision from Bohemia’s standpoint. But we’ll announce what all the other platforms are as we get to that point,” Hall added.
When gamers will be able to get their hands on the game is also up in the air. According to Hall, that depends on Sony creating an Early Access program and the game’s graphics engine, which is being updated to take full advantage of consoles.
“[The release date] would depend very much on what do the consoles offer in terms of release strategies,” he explained. “A straight up retail release? It’s not going to be next year because there’s just too much work remaining. It would be a very bizarre universe where there would be a 1.0 release of DayZ on consoles before PC.”
The game is currently available on PC via the developer’s website or Steam, but it remains very much a work-in-progress, and even Hall conceded that there are “a lot of problems with Early Access on PC.”
