Gaming Update: ‘Dead or Alive 5,’ ‘Gears of War,’ ‘Saints Row IV’
This past week, Deep Silver gave fans a preview of Saints Row‘s unconventional POTUS, Epic Games offered up more free content for Gears of War and Team Ninja gave DoA the ‘Ultimate’ treatment.
Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate Coming This Fall
Team Ninja has announced plans to release Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate later this year. It’s commonplace for companies to bundle all the DLCs for a title and then release it as an “Ultimate”; but Team Ninja is going a little further with this one. The developers will add at least two new modes to DoA Plus: a tutorial mode and a “Move Details Plus” mode. Fans can also expect new stages and new characters, including Momiji from the Ninja Gaiden series.
“The game has a lot to offer, and we’re excited that our fans will have the opportunity to enjoy an experience that delivers on our signature high-energy fighting entertainment,” said exec Yosuke Hayashi in a statement about the game.
DoA5 Ultimate will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3.
Gears of War: Judgment Map Will Be Released on May 15 for Free
Thanks to another collaboration with Maxim magazine, Epic Games has announced plans to unleash another Gears of War: Judgment DLC for free. The giveaway starts on May 15 and ends two weeks later. If purchased on or after May 29, it will cost $2 or 160 Microsoft points.
“Dreadnought” is a OverRun-compatible map that will allow gamers to delve into a nautical adventure. The downloadable content picks up a few months after Emergency Day. In the scenario, the COG has captured a few Locust Berserkers and devised a plan to transfer them to a secure research facility by boat. But unbeknownst to the COG, the Locusts have ocean-dwelling beasts that will make their voyage a severe challenge. Forced to land, the COG is greeted by troops of Locusts bent on rescuing their fellow soldiers.
This is the third DLC for Judgment, an Xbox-exclusive. “Call to Arms” was released earlier this month and treated fans to three new maps, new weapons and a new gameplay mode.
Saints IV Gameplay Trailer Released
The leader of the free world has a few tricks up his sleeve in Deep Silver’s Saints Row 4. The publisher gave fans a preview of the President’s capabilities in a six-minute gameplay trailer. The leader of the Saints takes a hands-on approach to problems, including the alien invasion that has trapped him and other Saints in a simulated version of Steelport. Among his skills are super speed, dexterity and the ability to fly. In true Saints Row fashion, it’s all quite absurd.
SR4 will be released stateside Aug. 20 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. It is currently available for pre-order. Early birds get a free upgrade to the “Commander-In-Chief” Edition.
