Gaming Update: ‘Dead Rising 3,’ ‘Rayman Legends,’ PS4/Xbox One, ‘Ultra Street Fighter IV’
Last week, Capcom announced the first DLC for Dead Rising 3, the pending arrival of Rayman Legends to “new” current-gen consoles was revealed, Sony and Microsoft released updates for their consoles and two new modes were reported for the forthcoming Ultra Street Fighter 4.
Dead Rising 3 DLC “Operation Broken Eagle” Announced
Capcom pushed back the first add-on for Dead Rising 3 from Christmas Eve to a Jan. 21 release. “Operation Broken Eagle” will task gamers with finding the President of the United States, who is missing. To complete the goal, you will play Special Ops Commander Adam Kane and receive five new weapons, a new vehicle, updated clothing and additional Gamerscore.
Executive producer Josh Bridge told MajorNelson.com, “Adam is a by-the-books soldier with a crew of Special Ops fighting for him. You get to take on some over-the-top military weapons and an armored vehicle that spews bullets. You get to take on missions that go against what Nick would have fought for, but as you discover through the story, you can also relate to how Adam struggles to follow through on his difficult orders.”
Rayman Legends Coming to Xbox One & PS4 Next Year
Rayman Legends will be released for the Xbox One and PS4 at the end of February. Gamers will get platform-specific goodies with the former Nintendo exclusive. Xbox One gamers will receive the Splinter Ray, Ray Vaas and Globox Vaas costumes, in addition to 10 exclusive challenges that can unlock new time-limited Achievements; and PS4 players will receive Assassin Ray and the ability to use the DualShock 4’s touchpad to perform various actions like scratching Lucky Tickets.
In related news, the title was released for Mac earlier this month. It retails for $20.
Xbox One & PS4 System Updates Released
System updates for Sony’s and Microsoft’s latest consoles were released last week. Downloaded automatically for those using the “Instant On” feature, the Xbox One update targets a number of bugs, including multiplayer issues and inconsistent notifications. “We’ve got quite a few updates planned for the next year based on the community feedback we’ve been seeing, and I’ll have details on those in the future,” wrote Major Nelson on his blog.
The PS4 Update is available for manual download for those who have not set up their systems to automatically update. Firmware update 1.52 purportedly improves the system’s software stability. It can be downloaded directly from the console using the Internet or via USB.
Ultra Street Fighter IV Coming With Two New Modes
When it’s released next year, Ultra Street Fighter IV will feature two new modes: an online training mode, which gamers will recognize from Street Fighter X Tekken, and Enhanced Team Battle Mode, which will allow players to team up with friends in three-on-three battles online. Check out the trailer below for a preview.
USF4 will also feature new gameplay mechanics, like the Red Focus attacks, which will allow players to charge a Focus attack while taking hits with limited damage; and access to the Ultra Combos during each match. Previously, gamers had to pick a combo prior to the beginning of the fight. In addition, five new characters are coming: Rolento, Elena, Hugo, Poison and a mysterious female.
Ultra Street Fighter IV, scheduled for release in July 2014, will be available for purchase as a DLC add-on for Super Street Fighter 4 or its update Arcade Edition and as a standalone title.
