Sitting atop a stationary bike pedaling a mile a minute and being screamed at by an instructor saying “BEAUTY MEANS PAIN,” that, “man, I bet NBA players don’t have to go through this.” You might think they find cooler ways to get in shape, like hanging out in a cryotherapy chamber or running on a treadmill while a bunch of sports scientists monitor how freakishly conditioned they are.
Well, you’d be wrong.
This past weekend, Toronto Raptors guard DeMar DeRozan and Sacramento Kings forward DeMarcus Cousins took part in the Nike Basketball Academy in L.A., in which the country’s top high school players come together to get better and interact with NBA superstars. Part of their experience? Hopping on the stationary bike for some serious Soul Cycle action. By the looks of these photos, the two NBA players went all out on the bikes and got in serious cardio workouts.
Next time you struggle through a final sprint in the last minute of your spinning workout, think to yourself: If I finish, I’m essentially an NBA player. That should help.
