According to reports, the irreverent comedy Dirty Grandpa will star Robert DeNiro and Zac Efron, now in negotiations to play grandfather and grandson in the big screen feature. The storyline centers on a single memorable road trip. Efron's character is tricked into driving his grandfather (De Niro), to Florida for spring break. De Niro's character is a crude, perverse former Army general, while Efron's character is described as "uptight." Things are further complicated by the fact that the general doesn't approve of his grandson's fiancée.
Directing the movie is filmmaker Dan Mazer, who recently directed the comedy I Give It a Year and is also known for his frequent collaborations with Sacha Baron Cohen. The screenplay for the R-rated flick was written by John Phillips (Bad Santa 2).
Barry Josephson (Bones) is producing. Although Josephson is primarily known for producing TV series, he has also worked on many feature films, among them Life as We Know It and De Niro's 2005 horror thriller Hide and Seek.
