‘DriveClub’ Still Coming to PS Plus Says Sony
The PlayStation Plus edition of DriveClub has been rescued from limbo and upgraded to a sure bet with a side of uncertainty.
“Although currently we do not have an update regarding the timing for the launch of the PS Plus Edition, we are continually working on improving the server capacity to enable us to launch the PS Plus Edition as quickly as possible,” said the company in a statement to GameSpot this week.
The future of the title was put in question in a recent interview Sony PlayStation Europe president Jim Ryan gave to Metro. Asked about the arrival of the free version, he told the site, “That’s still being looked at,” and when pressed, he added, “I can’t say anything at this stage.”
Understandably, some of the concern stems from the game’s far-from-stellar launch last fall. It was plagued with server issues, which often rendered the game unplayable. Though apologetic about the rocky start, Sony was more optimistic about the arrival of the edition back in October. “We apologize that the game is not yet ready to launch,” Sony content manager Chris Howe said back then. “We want you to know that we’re committed to providing DriveClub PS Plus Edition to members when it’s ready, and the team at Evolution Studios is working hard to make it a reality. We will still add DriveClub to the PS Plus lineup when it becomes available.”
The full-version of the PS4 exclusive is available for $59.99.
