EA Sports NBA Jam: Finally Back On Shelves
This past week, EA Sports released an updated version of their high-flying, alley-ooping, on-fire basketball video game NBA Jam. After 17 years, the old-school arcade game was updated for the Wii, Xbox 360 and PS3.
“We’ve identified what made NBA Jam such a mega hit, and we built inside and around those cornerstones to ensure that the original game is back the way you love it,” says Rob Hilson, art director for EA Sports NBA Jam.
The two-on-two arcade game brings back all the over-the-top dunks, balls catching on fire, smashed backboards and ridiculous alley-oops of the first version, plus simple pick up and play controls. With that, an up-to-date photographic gameplay design brings great new passion to the game. “[You] not only get a likeness [of the athletes], but it captures expressions and emotions,” Hilson says. “When you are flying through the air at 40 feet doing a dunk, you’re looking at the camera and screaming.”
