TRAILER: Oscar Isaac Stars in Sci-Fi Thriller ‘Ex Machina’
The sci-fi thriller Ex Machina, starring Oscar Isaac and Domhnall Gleeson, centers on Internet-search giant programmer Caleb Smith (Gleeson), who wins a competition to spend a weeklong vacation at a private mountain estate belonging to the company’s reclusive billionaire CEO, Nathan Bateman (Isaac). When he arrives, Caleb discovers the real reason he’s been sent. Nathan has chosen him to be the human component in a Turing Test—giving him the task of evaluating the capabilities and consciousness of Nathan’s new artificial intelligence experiment, the beautiful and seductive Ava.

Not surprisingly, a bizarre love triangle develops involving the lifelike, emotionally intelligent Ava, Caleb and Nathan.
Making his directorial debut with this film is Alex Garland, who also wrote the screenplay. Garland is best known for writing the popular horror flick 28 Days Later. He is also a well-known author, having penned the adventure novel The Beach, which became a memorable film for Leonardo Di Caprio in 2000.
Starring as Ava is Alicia Vikander (Anna Karenina). The cast also features Corey Johnson (Captain Phillips), Deborah Rosan (StreetDance 2) and Ramzan Miah.
Ex Machina will hit theaters nationwide on April 10.
