Gaming Update: ‘Fable Anniversary,’ ‘CoD,’ ‘Battlefield 4’
Last week Fable Anniversary was pushed back, Activision linked with Eminem for a CoD pre-order bonus and the Battlefield 4 beta got a release date.
Fable Anniversary Pushed Back, Not Coming to Xbox One
Last week, Microsoft and Lionhead Studios announced a delay in the release of Fable Anniversary through a post authored by lead designer Ted Timmins on Lionhead’s official blog. Timmins apologized for the delay and cited the cause as the studio’s desire to release a quality product.
“We’ve been working hard for the past year to bring you the very best Fable Anniversary experience on Xbox 360. We feel, though, that we need a little more time in order to meet our ambitions and give you, the fans, the best game possible,” wrote Timmins.
The game is now expected to reach shelves in February 2014. Despite the delay, however, it will not be coming to the Xbox One. “There are no plans to bring Fable Anniversary to Xbox One,” revealed producer Craig Oman on Twitter. The HD remake was also previously ruled out for PC. The forthcoming Fable Legends is still expected to get an Xbox One release.
Eminem LP Discount Offered With Call of Duty Pre-Order
Gamers who pre-order a copy of the upcoming CoD: Ghosts at GameStop will receive a special code that allows them to purchase Eminem’s upcoming album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, which includes an exclusive bonus studio track, for $8.99.
“The energy and intensity of ‘Survival’ really matches Call of Duty: Ghosts,” said Eminem in a press release. “I’m excited to continue to be a part of the franchise.”
“Survival” was the track playing in the background during Activision’s unveiling of the Ghosts multiplayer mode earlier this year. The publisher and rap artist have also announced plans to link up again later this month for a music video trailer featuring “Survival” and another look at Ghosts.
The offer is valid though Nov. 19. Call of Duty: Ghosts and The Marshall Mathers LP 2 will be released on Nov. 5.
Battlefield 4 Beta Starting Oct. 1
Battlefield 4 beta will open up on Oct. 1 for gamers who pre-order the PC digital deluxe edition, are Battlefield 3 premium members or own Medal of Honor: Warfighter. All other PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 players will have to wait until Oct. 4.
The game’s beta will launch several new modes, including Levolution and Amphibious Assault. In addition, Conquest and Domination modes will get the Siege of Shangai map.
Battlefield 4 will arrive on Oct. 29 for current-gen consoles and PC. The PS4 version hits shelves on Nov. 12, and the Xbox One version arrives Nov. 19. A $10 upgrade from current generation versions to next-gen is available for gamers who don’t want to wait until November to get their hands on the title. The upgrade will carry over all experience gained from the previous version.
