Fetty Wap, Rich Homie Quan Performing at BET Hip-Hop Awards
At the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards on Oct. 13, some of the biggest rappers in the game will take the stage to perform their hit songs. So far, Fetty Wap, Rich Homie Quan, T.I., Dej Loaf, Kid Ink and Young Dro have confirmed their participation.
Fetty and RHQ hope to take home a trophy or two. The former’s breakout single “Trap Queen” has earned him nods for the People’s Champ Award, Best Club Banger, Track of the Year and Best Hip-Hop Video. And Quan’s “Flex (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)” is nominated for Best Club Banger and the People’s Champ Award.
Drake has the most nominations. The Canadian rapper earned 12 nods, including Best Live Performer, Album of the Year for his surprise LP If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, and Hustler of the Year. In that last category, he faces stiff competition from veterans like Dr. Dre and Jay-Z.
Big Sean earned 10 nominations. Coming off an impressive year, the rapper has two songs in the Track of the Year category: “Blessings” and “IDFWU”.
Southern rapper Future pretty much stacked the deck in the Best Mixtape category by releasing a boatload of free material. He is nominated for 56 Nights, Beast Mode and Monster. Yet he still may not walk away with the award since Lil Wayne’s Sorry 4 The Wait 2 and Travis Scott’s Days Before Rodeo are also vying for the title.
Even imprisoned rapper Bobby Shmurda earned a nomination. He’ll compete with fellow newcomers Dej Loaf, Fetty Wap, Rae Sremmurd and Tink. And although Sremmurd and Fetty pretty much ruled the airwaves for the past year, there are still a few out there hitting the Shmoney dance.
