Electronic Arts has announced plans to release FIFA 14 later this year.
The highly anticipated soccer game sequel aims to provide more realistic game play. Look for a few new additions, including a new ball physics engine, which will increase the accuracy of trajectories, and a feature called “Pure Shot,” which will allow gamers to adjust their stride and approach angles, improving their chances of striking the ball and scoring a goal in a game-time situation. (Throwback: First Look at FIFA 13 Updates.)
With “Protect the Ball,” players will now be able to block and fight off offenders while either dribbling or trying to get in position for a pass. “Sprint Dribble Turns” will offer the ability to change directions while sprinting without sacrificing your momentum. Even “Career Mode” will receive a face-lift; the updated design, which will be easier to navigate, will gives players control of a global network of talent scouts.
“FIFA 14 will play the way great matches are contested, with buildup through midfield, tension throughout the match as chances are created, and incredible finishing. Opportunities in FIFA 14 will be rewarding and great goals will look stunning,” promised the game’s executive producer David Rutter.
EA has also announced a new online mode, which will center on social competition. Updates to FIFA Ultimate Team and EA Sports Football Club are also in the works.
A release date for FIFA 14 has not been announced, but it has been confirmed for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. EA will reveal additional platforms in the near future.
