LeBron James is a flawless physical specimen. He’s bigger than you. He’s stronger than you. And he runs like a gazelle. Whenever we get a chance to peek behind the curtain to see how LeBron crafts his perfect body, we grab it in hopes that if we work out like him and eat like him, we might one day stand 6-foot-8, sport a 10-pack of abs and be able to jump through the ceiling.
Fortunately, LeBron took a moment to share the details of his diet with Business Insider, and much to our dismay, it was really nothing out the ordinary. He’s not receiving shipments of secret government food full of nutrients we mere mortals haven’t heard of yet. He’s just eating chicken.

“Before competition for me would be like a chicken breast and maybe a little pasta. The carbs help because you’re going out and playing a lot of minutes,” James said. “But a salad and some veggies will have me perfectly fine. And before the game, I might have a protein shake and some fruit, and I’ll be ready to go. But as far as pies or pizza and sandwiches and French fries—I can’t. I’ll wait for that after the game. I can’t do that before the game.”
LeBron also revealed that during the NBA season, he works out every single day of the week. He’s got a penchant for classes—Pilates, spinning, etc.—and we know about his love of the VersaClimber. But putting in work each day of the week, even on game day? That’s something else.
So pile up those chicken breasts and start lifting seven days a week, and soon the Cleveland Cavaliers will come calling. Just don’t quote me on that.
