Waka Flocka Flame’s ‘Flockaveli 2’ Coming in October
Waka Flocka Flame has revealed plans to release his upcoming album, Flockaveli 2, on October 5. The project, a follow-up to 2012’s Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family, will reportedly feature collaborations with Timbaland, Swizz Beatz and Wyclef Jean.
The former 1017 Brick Squad affiliate has kept busy since parting ways with long-time collaborator Gucci Mane. Earlier this month, he released a 19-track mixtape, Duflocka Rant Halftime Show. The tape, a sequel to Duflocka Rant 2, which was released in February, was hosted by DJ Love Dinero and featured appearances by Wooh Da Kid, Chaz Gotti, Avery Storm, Young Thug, Young Scooter and T.I. on top of production from the likes of 808 Mafia, Metro Boomin, and Drumma Boy, among others. Waka Flocka also has plans to release an entire EDM-inspired project to avoid getting typecast as a crunk rapper. “It’s already in the motion. Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex. Some underground people, too. I want to create a name,” said the Atlanta-based entertainer during an interview with HipHopDX. “I’ve been doing it in hip-hop so long.” (On STACK’s All Hip-Hop NFL Team, we’d start Flocka at WR.)
Waka’s future interests also include Brick Squad Monopoly. He has signed Huey to the label. Huey is known for his 2006 hit “Pop, Lock & Drop It.” Out of the spotlight since, the St. Louis performer will drop a mixtape before making his official return to the rap game with an album on Flocka’s label.
In other news, the “Round of Applause” rapper recently teamed up with United In Peace Inc. to host an anti-violence concert in Chicago. “Senseless acts of violence [are] happening all over the world, but it starts with us acknowledging the acts now. Chicago is the first but not the last for me,” said Waka in a statement about the event.
