Francisco Lindor Hitting a Home Run in Puerto Rico is Everything Good About Sports

Lindor's blast against the Twins in front of his many fans in Puerto Rico was priceless.

The Cleveland Indians and Minnesota Twins will play the second game of their two-day showcase in Puerto Rico tonight, but it's going to be impossible to top what happened on Tuesday night, when hometown hero Francisco Lindor stepped to the plate for the second time.

A native of Caguas, a city just 20 miles from where the Indians are playing in San Juan, Lindor's mere presence in Hiram Bithorn Stadium was enough to give you goosebumps, with the capacity crowd going bonkers when Lindor was introduced pregame, then moving to the verge of explosion when he almost hit a dinger in his very first at-bat.

That led to Lindor's second plate appearance in the top of the fifth. After working an 0-2 count to 3-2, Lindor got a hanging breaking ball from Twins pitcher Dan Odorizzi, and hit it just far enough to sneak it over the right field wall for a home run. The roar from the crowd as the ball cleared the fence sounded like it was plucked out of a reaction from the World Series.

Lindor was incredibly emotional as he rounded the bases, pumping his fists and beaming his trademark smile in what had to be one of the coolest moments of his baseball career. Sometimes sports are very, very good.
