Watch the 'Game of Thrones' Mountain Deadlift Nearly 1,000 Pounds

Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who portrays The Mountain in HBO's series 'Game of Thrones,' is one of the world's strongest men.

If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, you're probably still reeling from last week's episode, which included an epic battle between The Red Viper and The Mountain (no spoilers here). It was the second-straight episode in which Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays Gregor Clegane (ak.a. The Mountain), had appeared this season, and all anyone could talk about after seeing him was how gigantic he is.

Well, it turns out Björnsson is about as strong as he looks. The 6-foot-9, 419-pound behemoth placed second in this year's World's Strongest Man Competition, and in the above video, he deadlifts a whopping 994 pounds at the 2014 Arnold Strongman Classic (and with good form, to boot). He is such an enormous human being that the Indianapolis Colts tinkered with the idea of signing him in 2013, even though he'd never played a down of football in his life. Björnsson's bad knees stopped it from happening, but he seems to be doing just fine in strength competitions.
