There’s plenty of buzz surrounding the production of the highly anticipated Ghostbusters 3 feature film. It is likely that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig will helm the picture. He is said to be Sony’s first choice and has expressed interest in the opportunity. Feig has a number of exciting projects on the horizon, including the Melissa McCarthy action-comedy, Spy, which will be released on Memorial Day 2015.
Originally, Ivan Reitman, who directed the first two Ghostbusters, was set to direct the third installment, but Reitman bowed out earlier this year, prompting a search for a new director.
This movie, which has been in development for quite awhile, has been through major changes, partly due to the death of original Ghostbusters star Harold Ramis last February. Revisions had to be made to the screenplay by The Office writers Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg.
Although Dan Aykroyd has confirmed that he will return for the sequel, former cast mate Bill Murray has not committed to reprising his role.
This film is expected to be a true reboot. The story will introduce new female Ghostbusters.
