See Fox’s Pre-Batman ‘Gotham’ in New Trailer
Fox has released a full-length trailer for the upcoming Batman prequel, Gotham. Check it out below! The show, which follows rookie detective James Gordon, will star Ben McKenzie.
The series will follow war veteran Gordon as he rises through the ranks to police commissioner. Bruce Wayne will also be featured in the show, but mostly as a child coping with the death of his parents.
The good guys are not the only characters getting the origin story treatment. The city is teeming with bad guys. Fans will see the beginnings of familiar Batman villains Catwoman (Camren Bicondova), The Penguin (Robin Lord Taylor), The Riddler (Cory Michael Smith) and Two-Face. The trailer even hints at the possible arrival of The Joker and shows a quick shot of Poison Ivy.
Gotham will introduce a tougher Alfred (Sean Pertwee), cops Renee Montoya and Crispus Allen (Victoria Cartagena and Andrew Stewart Jones), Gordon’s partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), his boss Sarah Essen (Zabryna Guevara) and villain Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett Smith).
With Gordon at the center of the show, it would been easy to turn the series into a procedural, but during a recent interview with EW, executive producer Bruno Heller (The Mentalist), revealed that the Gotham will take a different route. “There’s a procedural framework for it, but the world of Gotham is too big and operatic and complex to do it any other way than serialized,” he said.
Gotham will air on Monday nights this fall, ahead of Sleepy Hollow.
