Last ‘Gran Turismo 5’ Online Event Offers Gamers ‘GT6’ Cars
The sun will set on Gran Turismo 5‘s online services later this month. To commemorate the game, developer Polyphony Digital is hosting one last online event through May 30.
“We would like to thank all of our fans who have supported us by playing online over the past three and a half years since November 2010,” reads a post from the company announcing the event on the official GT website.
The event includes two stages. The first features the 2011 Mazda Roadster Touring on the Top Gear test track, and the second uses the 2011 Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsports on the 24-hour Nürburgring track.
Participation will net gamers five cars for Gran Turismo 6: the 2009 Abarth Grande Punto, 2011 Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy, 2008 Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34), 2012 Telsa Motors Model S Signature Performance, and 2012 Subaru S206 NBR Challenge Package. According to the developer, the cars were selected because “they will be very useful in the early stages of Gran Turismo 6.”
To access the cars, you’ll need GT6 (released Dec. 6 as a PS3 exclusive) and registered lap times for both stages. Between June 2 and June 29, sign into GT6 using the same PSN account you used to register your lap times during the GT5 online finale event. The vehicles will unlock.
The online portions of several other games will also be ending this month, including MAG, SOCOM: Confrontation and the first three Resistance games.
