Watch the New Trailer for “The Great Gatsby”
The second trailer for The Great Gatsby, Baz Luhrmann’s film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s acclaimed novel, came out this week, introducing audiences to the enigmatic Gatsby, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, with narration by Nick Carraway, played by Tobey Maguire. As we have come to expect from Luhrmann’s films, the movie looks like it will be a great spectacle, loaded with beautiful women, grand set design, action, epic cinematography, and a rock-infused soundtrack. The first trailer used former White Stripes frontman Jack White’s cover of U2’s song, “Love is Blindness,” to set a somber mood. This second trailer kicks the energy up a notch with a hard rock cover of The Turtle’s classic, “Happy Together.”
The Great Gatsby is the second of Luhrmann’s films to feature DiCaprio, following the 1996 William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet, a movie that won them both recognition, including several Best Actor nods for DiCaprio, and Best Direction for Luhrmann. The pair’s newest film was originally scheduled for a December 2012 release, but has been pushed back to May 10, 2013.
In addition to DiCaprio and Maguire, the film also stars Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Carey Mulligan as Gatsby’s once and future love interest, Daisy Buchanan. Get ready for the film by checking out the trailer below.
