Throw Snowballs in ‘GTA Online’ Christmas Update
When Christmas rolls through Los Santos this year, it’ll bring heaps of snow, free gear (including ugly sweaters), special crate drops, and of course, weapons.
Rockstar released the “Festive Surprise” update for GTA Online this week, and it’s sure to please. “Those dreaming of a white Christmas are in luck, as the forecast calls for the extremely rare phenomenon of San Andreas snowfall to hit a few special days this holiday season. Be on the lookout and ready to round up your Crew for a friendly snowball fight, but be forewarned, those icy little suckers can pack a wallop,” warned the publisher.
If you’re not going to let a little wintery mix keep you house-bound, you might as well drive in style, right? And what better way than with one of the four new available vehicles: the flashy Hot Rod Christmas Ratloader, the trusty Slam Van, and Massacro and Jester sports cars. All of the cars will be permanent and up for grabs long after Saint Nick and his holiday cheer leave town.
Speaking of Santa, the crate drops are expected to deliver “a few of the rare vintage GTA tees,” and you may notice a few extra gifts under the tree in your living room. Also, on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, you’ll have the ability to score either the Firework Launcher or Firework rocket ammo for free. And if those aren’t enough, a new Homing Missile Launcher and Proximity Mines are being stocked at Ammu-Nation for gamers to purchase and use permanently.
The update—which also brings other fixes and improvements, including the ability to own a third property and garage—is available across all four platforms–Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.
