Holiday Wish List 2015: Perfect Multi-Gym Pro
You can get a great workout at home with nothing but bodyweight exercises. However, back work is often lacking in home workouts, because you need a pull-up bar or weights to strengthen the big muscles of your back.
The Perfect Multi-Gym Pro solves that problem. Designed to fit over a standard door frame, this piece of training equipment allows you add Pull-Up variations to your at-home workout routine.
Assembly takes about 20 minutes. The instructions are clear, and assembly tools are included in the box. Once it’s put together, the Multi-Gym fits on almost any door frame between 27 and 35 inches wide, with no drilling. A traditional frame like this works fine, but it doesn’t fit a frame with extra moldings, like this. Foam pads on each contact point ensure that it doesn’t cause any damage to the door frame.
The Multi-Gym Pro is a versatile piece of equipment. Three grip positions allow for Neutral-Grip Pull-Ups, Chin-Ups, Wide-Grip Pull-Ups and Close-Grip Pull-Ups. You can also do hanging core exercises like Sit-Ups, Push-Ups and Dips.
The equipment performed exactly as expected in our tests. After installation, it’s normal to have a little trepidation when you go up for your first reps. But the Multi-Gym feels sturdy—it’s rated for 300 pounds. The padded grip positions are comfortable and easy to grip.
We primarily use the Multi-Gym for Pull-Ups and hanging core exercise variations. We typically avoid Sit-Ups and opt for traditional Push-Ups. We especially like the Neutral-Grip handles; however, we wish there were a shoulder-width grip position for traditional Pull-Ups and Chin-Ups.
The Perfect Multi-Gym Pro costs $39.95 and is available at PerfectOnline.com.
