Holiday Wish List 2015: This Year’s NHL Winter Classic Jerseys are On Fleek
This season’s annual NHL Winter Classic will pit two archrival Original Six teams against each other. On New Year’s Day, the Boston Bruins will take on the Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
As a hockey fan (specifically, a Bruins fan), I couldn’t be more excited for the game. Besides the awesome matchup, another reason why my excitement is so high is this year’s jerseys.
The Reebok jerseys are a throwback to the early days of these storied franchises. Both teams’ jerseys incorporate design elements from their 1923-1924 seasons. Even the neck of the jerseys harkens back to the sweaters worn by players in the early years of the NHL.
The game has come a long way, and the jerseys have become significantly lighter in weight. But rest assured, the Bruins and Habs players will be skating in style.
“I like everything about it,” P.K. Subban, defenseman for the Canadiens, told NHL.com. “I like the color. I like the globe on the arm. It’s pretty cool, the story behind it, but just the fact that it’s hand-stitched, it’s special, this is like a collector’s item. It’s not just a jersey, in my opinion, it’s a symbol of what it means to be a Montreal Canadien.”
As for me, I’ll be wearing the Bruins jersey and cheering for the black and gold on New Year’s Day.
You can purchase these Winter Classic jerseys on Reebok.com for $140.
