Introducing the Evil Geniuses: Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson
Visiting Atlantic City to cover the IGN Pro League Tournament, one of eSports’ high profile events, STACK met with the COO and four members of the Evil Geniuses, a pro gaming organization many refer to as the New York Yankees of eSports. This is part one of a five-part series introducing some of the most celebrated virtual athletes in the United States.
The most recognizable member of the elite gaming squad is Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson. His massive frame puts him in a class with the toughest linemen in the NFL. In fact, Robinson is no stranger to the weight room—just watch him casually press 435 pounds in the video below.[youtube video=”qHaDsqKZ-gM” /]
This StarCraft superstar declared that, like any other athlete, he leads a normal life outside of gaming. He has a girlfriend, hangs out with friends and goes to movies. “If I just played StarCraft, I would burn out,” he told STACK. “My mind would get clouded and I just wouldn’t have the same amount of success.”
But Robinson is truly dedicated. He spends 10 to 14 hours a day practicing StarCraft. “Whenever I do something, I never do it halfway. I go full bore,” he stated. After beginning his career “very newbie,” he worked his way up the ranks until he reached the point where people wanted to pay him to compete—“and who am I to say no?”
Anyone who questions the viability of eSports needs to check out professional gamer Geoff “iNcontrol” Robinson.
