James McAvoy Calls Next X-Men Movie ‘Epic’
During a press run for his latest movie, Filth, James McAvoy hyped another one of his films, X-Men: Days of Future Past. The actor praised director Bryan Singer’s work on the film and called it one of the best in the series.
“There’s an army of brilliant actors in [Days of Future Past]. Bryan Singer is back at the helm. Potentially it’s going to be the biggest, most epic X-Men they’ve ever had. I think it’s the second biggest production Fox has ever embarked upon, behind Avatar. So they’re definitely going for it,” said McAvoy.
It’s easy to take a relaxed approach to a movie involving comic book characters. But according to McAvoy, who portrays a young Professor X in the film, Singer’s commitment to the story shows in the sequel. “He does take it really seriously,” McAvoy said. “There’s a kind of reverence about it, which I like. You want people to take it seriously. That’s what he brings to it, I think. And a safe pair of hands—you know you’re in good hands.”
The X-Men movie will feature several actors from First Class and earlier installments, including Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Nicholas Hoult, Shawn Ashmore and Jennifer Lawrence. Among the newcomers, Peter Dinklage will take on the role of Bolivar Trask, and Evan Peters will portray Quicksilver.
Days of Future Past is expected to hit theaters May 23, 2014.
