If his work in the weight room is any indication, Jason Pierre-Paul might be returning to form. The New York Giants defensive end played sparingly last season after a fireworks accident severely injured his right hand, but he's been working his butt off this off-season with Florida-based trainer Michael Alessi.
Pierre-Paul recently posted a picture on Instagram of a Prowler sled loaded with an astonishing amount of weight:
I count 12 45-pound plates, and it looks like the Prowler he's using is a model known as the Drive Sled II. If that's the case, the sled and tubes alone add 90 pounds. It also looks like some smaller plates might be wedged between the 45s, leaving little doubt that JPP was pushing well over 600 pounds. Last week, he posted a video of himself pushing the same sled loaded with 10 45-pound plates:
Prowlers are an excellent tool for developing lower-body power and explosiveness, traits that will be crucial for JPP if he expects to return to the form that helped him rack up 12 1/2 sacks in 2014.
