If Josh Gordon gets another chance to play in the NFL, he’ll be ready to pick up where he left off.
You probably know Gordon’s story by now, After a breakout year in 2013, in which he earned First-Team All-Pro honors, he was suspended for much of the 2014 season for driving while impaired. A subsequent violation of the league’s substance abuse policy led to his indefinite suspension from the NFL, forcing him to miss the entire 2015 season.
In late January, Gordon became eligible to apply for reinstatement. While he waits for the league office to rule on his status for 2016, he’s passing the time by getting in stupendous shape.
We already documented Gordon’s regular weight room sessions at EXOS LA, but a new video from TMZ shows he’s also been visiting Jay Glazer’s Unbreakable Performance Center. Unbreakable is not your run-of-the-mill gym. They specialize in MMA-style training, prioritizing hand-to-hand combat and controlling your own bodyweight in space.
Although Gordon probably won’t be stepping inside an octagon any time soon, the hand-fighting techniques he displays in the video are critical for helping a receiver get off the line of scrimmage. It might feel like Gordon’s days of dominance are ancient history, but if he keeps training like this, he could come back stronger than ever.
